Director of Bands
Kenneth Gilbreath
Mr. Gilbreath is currently in his 10th year as Director of Bands at Bastrop High School and his 27th year of music education. Originally from the Wichita Falls area Mr. Gilbreath studied music education at Tarleton State University. His bands have achieved consistent superior ratings throughout his career. Since arriving in Bastrop he has brought the Bastrop High School Band to achieving their first sweepstakes in over a decade while improving enrollment numbers of the program. Mr. Gilbreath’s bands have appeared in 5A Area D Finals and the 1A State Marching finals. His professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association and Texas Bandmasters Association.
Assistant Director of Bands
Geoffrey Gutierrez
Mr. Gutierrez is in his 3rd year as Assistant Director of Bands at Bastrop High School. He graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Music from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, and previously attended Texas State University. While attending St. Mary's he was principal alto saxophonist for the wind ensemble, and played tenor and bari sax in the jazz band. He was selected as the senior guest conductor for the St. Mary's choir, studied saxophone, clarinet, and flute under Bill King, and Euphonium and trombone with Dr. Matthew Mireles. While attending Texas State he was a member of the Bobcat Marching Band. Mr. Gutierrez served as a marching tech at Clark High School where he lead marching fundamentals, visual & fitness from 2018-2021. He is a member of the Texas Bandmasters and Texas Music Educators Associations.
In his free time Mr. Gutierrez enjoys travel, hiking, rock climbing, and bike riding.
Assistant Director of Bands
Orion Wysocki
Mr. Wysocki is new to teaching in Bastrop ISD but has three years of experience at the middle school and high school levels in Hays CISD. During this time, he took the Lehman High School Indoor Drumline to State Finals twice, as well as the Chapa Middle School percussion ensemble to perform at TMEA.
Originally from Bastrop, TX, Mr. Wysocki received his Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Texas State University in San Marcos, TX. He then received his Master of Music in Percussion Performance from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX.
During his time at Texas State, Mr. Wysocki studied under Genaro Gonzalez and performed with numerous ensembles including professionally with the Austin Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Wysocki was also active in the independent marching arts, performing on snare drum with Colts drum and bugle corps, Cascades drum and bugle corps, and two years with Rhythmic Force Indoor Percussion with the second year as snare drum section leader.
During his time at Texas Christian University, Mr. Wysocki studied under Dr. Brian A. West, Joey Carter, Jeff Hodge, and Dr. Richard Gipson. As a graduate assistant, Mr. Wysocki taught undergraduate private lessons, percussion ensemble class, and assisted with the percussion methods class. He also performed with and helped facilitate the TCU percussion orchestra during their PASIC tour in 2019, and as principal percussionist of the TCU Wind Symphony during their TMEA tour in 2020.
Mr. Wysocki’s hobbies include backpacking, playing video games, and going to the beach with his wife and their black lab Daisie.
Color Guard Director
Leopoldo Navarro
Leopoldo Navarro is a graduate of Texas A&M University of Kingsville and a current graduate student of Grand Canyon University. His marching background includes, Texas A&M University Pride of South Texas, United Independent Winterguard and Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps. His career in colorguard education includes choreographer/designer/tech for Kaufer High School (2015-2017), Carrizo Springs High School (2018-2021), and Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps (2019-2022). Mr. Navarro has also served as the colorguard director for Pearsall High School (2022-2024).
